1. High Resin Density
The resin density of Hainan agarwood is generally higher than that of agarwood from other regions. How can we preliminarily determine whether a piece is Hainan agarwood, or even high-quality Hainan agarwood, based on its resin density? In fact, the higher the resin density, the richer the color and the more vibrant the resin. Factors affecting resin density include high-altitude environments and growing conditions. Many people mistakenly believe that sinking in water indicates high resin density. In reality, I have seen Hainan agarwood that does not sink but still has very high resin density.
Agarwood from other regions, even if it sinks immediately, does not have the same high resin density. It often appears less vibrant in color and may even look somewhat "dirty" on the surface, which is related to its resin density.

In my personal experience, the aroma of high-quality wild Hainan agarwood when heated surpasses even that of Kynam (Kyara).
