分类:Agarwood Tree

In China, there is only one species of agarwood tree, known as Aquilaria sinensis (Lour.) Gilg, also called “Tuchenxiang” (Earth Agarwood). It belongs to the Thymelaeaceae family and is an evergreen tree. It typically grows to a height of 5-10 meters, with dark gray, almost smooth bark and tough fibers. The branches are cylindrical, wrinkled, and sparsely covered with soft hairs when young, which gradually fall off, becoming hairless or nearly hairless. The agarwood tree thrives in low-altitude mountainous areas, hills, and sunny roadside sparse forests.
