Agarwood, a traditional Chinese medicinal name, refers to the resin-containing wood of the plant Aquilaria sinensis (Lour.) Gilg, belonging to the Thymelaeaceae family. It is primarily distributed in regions such as Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi, and Fujian. Agarwood is renowned for its therapeutic properties, including promoting qi circulation to alleviate pain, warming the middle jiao to stop vomiting, and regulating qi to relieve asthma. It is commonly used to treat symptoms such as chest and abdominal distension and pain, cold stomach with vomiting and hiccups, and asthma caused by kidney deficiency and rebellious qi.
